The Tokeland Hotel was built as a private residence over 140 years ago and transitioned into a boarding house for weary travelers shortly thereafter. It was remarkable at that time to even have indoor plumbing and standard to have a few shared bathrooms amongst guests. Today the Tokeland Hotel's bones stay largely intact and so too does the layout. There are 4 bathrooms on the second floor to be shared by guests. 2 with standing showers and 2 with claw-foot bath tubs with showers.

If you think you’ve accidentally forgotten an item on property, send over an email with a description of the item and any thoughts on where it could be lingering.

If it lands in lost and found, there is a $75 return fee. That fee will be charged to the card on file.

An adventure! You can think of Tokeland as a big fancy barn; plenty of isolation from the world at large, but not so much from your fellow guests. The walls can be thin, but the Brooklinen sheets on the comfy new mattresses will keep you sleeping cozy until the smell of breakfast comes wafting under your door. If you are lucky enough to be here during a winter storm, the walls might creak and sway, all part of the charm and experience of staying in this one-of-a-kind hotel. Welcome to Tokeland!

We are not directly on a beach but do have expansive views of the Willapa Bay to our south and east. There are numerous beaches to explore very close by.

Nearly! We close for several days or weeks in the winter for repairs and rest.

We take reservations for rooms 7 days a week. Getting together with friends and family is fabulous no matter what the weather. Some of the best memories at the hotel are when it’s storming outside and everyone is hanging around the fireplace.

Well, that’s for you to decide but whatever kind of ghosts we have here are most definitely the playful and friendly type!

Penelope’s Cabin is a 2-bedroom cabin that can sleep up to 4 guests.

Walter’s Cabin is a 1-bedroom cabin that can sleep up to 2 guests.

The cabin is on a private street 0.6 miles up the road from the Hotel. It’s an easy walk or bike ride, but you could also drive over!

Penelope’s: There is a small step up into the cabin at the two threshold doors, and inside, there is a step down between the dining room and living room.

The shower is a walk-in stall with a small step to keep the water inside.

There are no ADA handlebars or ramps on property.

Walter’s: There are several steps up to the entrance of the property. There are handrails on the staircase.

Penelope’s: There are 2 bedrooms and each have 1 queen bed, allowing up to 4 guests to spend the night.

Outside, in the spa, we have an outdoor shower with towels set aside for enjoying the spa.

Each cabin does have an indoor fireplace and lots of wood to enjoy during your stay.

We have Wi-Fi that covers The Cabins. The password will be given to you upon arrival. Cell coverage will depend on your service provider, but it seems that Verizon works well.

Penelope’s: The kitchen is really great. It has a full size fridge and freezer. We have a fancy toaster and a coffee maker. Coffee grounds are provided.

The cabinets have dishes and silverware for 4 and pots and pans for cooking.

Walter’s: The kitchen is equipped for cooks and dreamers alike, featuring Hestan cookware, chef’s knives, a Boos butcher block, and an Italian stove. The cabinets have dishes and silverware for 2 and pots and pans for cooking.

Penelope’s: We have an awesome set-up for relaxation. There is a semi-private outdoor shower, a traditional hot tub and a Finnish sauna. All are right out the back door. All are included in the price of your stay.

Walter’s: There is a custom-built cedar sauna with cold plunge and outdoor shower. All are right out the front door, in the rear of the property.

Because of this, the guests of The Cabins do not need to book the wood-fired hot tub on the hotel grounds.

No parties or celebrations are permitted in The Cabins, above the guests named on the reservation.

If you host an event at The Cabins, you will be asked to end festivities and all non-named guests will be asked to vacate premises immediately. There will be a $100/person cleaning fee applied for every extra guest not named on the reservation.

We have Wi-Fi that covers the entire property. The password will be given to you upon arrival. Cell coverage will depend on your service provider, but it seems that Verizon works well.

Our wood-fired hot tub is available for all guests staying at the hotel (cabin guests have their own hot tub).

We have a 24-hour minimum advance booking requirement. This is because it takes 12-hours to fill and heat the hot tub.

Our first session each day starts at 7pm, and lasts 45-minutes. Our last session of the evening is at 10pm. All begin at the top of the hour.

You are welcome to add a hot tub session to your stay at check-in if there are appointments open.

• Each session is private (up to 4 guests over the age of 18 in your party) and includes the cold dunk.

• Shower beforehand to remove body oils and deodorants.

• Robes provided and should be left in your room upon check out, not in communal bathrooms to avoid robe charge.

There are no refunds for missed hot tub sessions.

We have no cable tv, televisions, or DVD players. We do have a roaring fireplace and numerous board and card games and plenty of reading material.

We do indeed and stock it with firewood. Folks often request a s’mores kit at the time of reservation or from the front desk and enjoy them around the fire pit.

The fire pit is only located on hotel property, not at Penelope’s Cabin.

We have a collection of beach cruiser bikes, some with baskets, guests can use to get around the area.

We do indeed have 2 EV chargers at the hotel for overnight guests to use. There is a $27/session charge associated.

Check in with the front desk to schedule your overnight charge session. Charges will be added to your room bill.

You can also add it when you book your room.

We bring freshly brewed carafes of coffee upstairs each morning between 7-8 am along with all the creamer and sugar fixins’.

Enjoy a cup before joining us for breakfast.

Our rooms do not have minibars or mini fridges. If you have items that require refrigeration, like medicine, please share this with the front desk team so they can keep your items cold.

We serve breakfast and lunch from 8am-2pm and supper from 4pm-8pm. An automatic gratuity of 20% is added for all parties.
If you’re coming with a group or planning an event on property, we offer private breakfasts, luncheons and dinners or special menus on request.

For holidays and seasonal events, we ask you to place a credit card on file to confirm your reservation. No charge or hold is placed on your card unless you cancel or don't show up less than 24 hours before your reservation time—in which case we'll charge $15 per guest.

(If you're using American Express, a $1 authorization charge may appear briefly as a security check. This amount will not be charged to your card.)

We order fresh ingredients from local vendors according to our confirmed reservations. A last-minute cancellation means wasted food, which this policy helps us prevent.

Yes, we have select dishes that can be made to accommodate these diets. All menus are marked to notate dishes which accommodate these dietary requirements and preferences.

Our deep fryer runs on beef tallow. It is neither vegetarian nor gluten-free.

Yes! We require at least 48-hours notice for all cake orders.

Cakes serve 18-24 depending on how it’s cut, and cost $150 + tax.

The Tokeland Hotel is famous for its artesian spring water.

You sure can! When you dine with us as hotel guests, share with your server that you’d like the bill to go on your room, along with your name and room #, and they’ll take care of the rest.

The question is what isn’t there to do in Tokeland? Biking, hiking, fishing, crabbing, surfing, kayaking, beach combing, swimming, bird watching, kiting, playing board games, reading, eating, drinking, and relaxing…we have it all! Check out some seasonal ideas here.

Yes, you can throw your crab pots off of the pier down the street by Nelson’s Crab. All areas for fishing, crabbing and clamming require a fishing license found here.

There are several stores in town from which you can purchase supplies.

Gray whales, humpback whales, harbor seals, sea lions, orcas, porpoise, starfish, sea anemone, crabs; you name it, we have probably seen it here.

We have seen porcupines, mountain lions, bears, Roosevelt elk, deer, cows, horses and hundreds of native and rare birds. There is also ‘Iona the Pig’ and ‘Buttons the lama’ living here in Tokeland as well as our official hotel greeter dog Augustus “Gus” (Gus the Bus), Biscuit the rabbit, and our own (pet) pigs Fanny, Fern and Francis (they eat our compost for us).

You are always welcome to explore downstairs during normal business hours however; the upstairs rooms are limited to guests. If you would like to see a room before reserving one, the front desk team will be happy to show you around.

Yes! We rent out the hotel for large parties, reunions, weddings, corporate events, and retreats of all kinds. You name it, we can do it. As a wedding venue, the hotel is quite popular because we offer a completely private hotel experience. Email us to discuss your event!

Cancellations for hotel rooms or cabins made more than 48 hours prior to arrival date may be rebooked for a later date at no charge. All rebooking requests must be submitted by email.

Cancellations for hotel rooms or cabins made within 48 hours of arrival date are non-refundable and not eligible for rebooking.

Neither refunds nor rebooking credits are provided for early departures or for inclement weather.

As a small, boutique property, our kitchen and staffing plans are based directly on guest reservations. Last-minute cancellations often result in product waste and lost capacity, which this policy helps us manage responsibly.

For large parties and buyouts, we do not offer deposit refunds.

Your credit card is on file as a guarantee.

For holidays or seasonal events, we may require you to place a credit card on file in order to make and confirm the reservation. No charge or hold is placed on your card. If you do not show, or if you cancel your reservation less than 2 days before your scheduled time, we reserve the right to process a charge of $15.00per guest.

Note that if you’re using AMEX, a $1 charge may appear as part of the authorization challenge. This amount will not be charged to your card.

As a small restaurant in a remote area, we order all our ingredients fresh from local vendors according to our dining room reservations schedule. Cancellations mean wasted ingredients.

Rates are subject to change without notice.

Full payment is required at the time of booking and is payable by credit card. By providing a credit card number, you are giving authorization for us to bill your credit card for the full amount, including and costs accrued while at the property, and outstanding balances not paid at time of departure. Guests will be responsible for any increase in rates between their original and new booking.

In the event your plans change, you must cancel or adjust your hotel reservation in accordance with the hotel's cancellation policy. Please email with any questions.

Gift cards purchased on the Tokeland Hotel website have the following terms and conditions:

• no expiration

• gift card in nonrefundable and not redeemable for cash or credit

• gift card in not replaceable if lost, stolen, or destroyed

• protect this card like cash, it is a cash equivalent

We love dogs and gladly welcome quiet, non-aggressive dogs in our pet-friendly rooms only. Dogs must stay on-leash at all times, inside the hotel and outside as well.

Please do not leave your dog unattended in your room, cabin, or in your car while it is in our parking lot.

Even the most obedient dogs cry, howl, or scratch at the door when they are left alone in an unfamiliar environment.

Please pick up after your pet. Poop stations with bags and waste bins are at the front and back of the hotel.

If your pet disrupts other guests with barking, whining, clawing or scratching, we will ask you to checkout early. Refunds are not provided for early departures.

We charge a non-refundable $50.00 pet fee. A maximum of one pet is allowed per room. Let us know if you need extra towels for your pet as we keep white room towels for human hands.

We ask that pets not sleep on our beds but many of our rooms have pet cubbies. In the event your pet can’t stay on the floor, we will assess a $100 cleaning fee for the linens. If your room requires an extra deep cleaning after checkout, there will be a $200 cleaning fee applied. These charges ensure that all guests enjoy the same level of cleanliness and comfort upon arrival.

Should you choose to bring a pet into a non-pet-friendly room, we will assess a $200 cleaning fee.

Smoking of any kind (cigarettes, vaping or marijuana) is prohibited in all rooms and public areas of the hotel. Should you choose to smoke on property, we will assess a $400 cleaning fee.

We pride ourselves on our 100% organic cotton sheets, hand embroidered quilts and shams, floral Kantha throws, furs, Mexican Otomi embroidered pillows, Public Goods body products, and the like and hope you enjoy them during your stay. If there is damage, missing, or stolen items, or excessive cleaning required, the card on file will be charged accordingly. We realize accidents do happen and appreciate you letting us know of certain stains that need to be taken care of promptly.

A $200.00 damage hold will be placed on your card until after check out.

No fireworks or firearms are permitted on hotel property.
